Queens Driving Range Hot

Tucked in one corner of Queestown, off Margaret Drive, is a bland, uninteresting looking building. No, I am not describing the Queenstown Remand Prison, but rather, the Queens Golf Range. If not for the well designated signposts, one would have easily mistaken the place for a vacant building waiting to be restored to its previous splendor. On first impression, the premise appears to be desperately in need of a fresh coat of paint and a refreshing makeover in outlook.

However, having said that, the range, with 46 tee-off mats in the lower and the upper level (all covered) respectively simply means that it is not difficult to find a mat during peak periods. The range does have its plus points such as the condition of the mats and the balls, which, if you are not too particular about the environment, are strong enough reasons for you to spend your driving sessions there. My gut feel also tells me that the balls are one of the cheapest around town ($3.00 for 50 balls). Given the rising inflation of goods, services, and everything else, this will certainly weigh heavily as an option to sway those who are not too bothered by the overall appearance of the place to the range.

As you stay on beyond the initial impression, the golf range does exude a certain charm and attractiveness. Although it is small by most standards, it is well served by good amenities, and a café that serves finger food at ridiculously low price.

If you had enough of golf for the day, a stone’s throw away will bring you to a Brazilian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and a Spa (Waikiki Spa). As for the model car enthusiast, which I reckon will catch up with the hype of the F1 gradually rising to a crescendo in September, there is also a race track about 50 meters away for those who want to experience the adrenalin rush of being a race car driver without driving a race car.
