(Formerly known as Asian Golf Academy Driving Range)

Bishanites have never had it so good. With the Asian Golf Academy
only a stone’s throw from the conspicuously famed Bishan roof-like
flats, right smack in the middle of the Bishan estate, it is anyone’s
guess why the golf course is regularly crowded in the nights, even the
days, often with residents from nearby and afar.

Even with the popularity of golf registering a new high, one should
not have any problem finding a tee-off bay at this ever-popular driving
range. With more than 150 tee-off sheltered and open bays on offer at
any one time, golfers are spoilt for choice, even for the most
discerning golfers. Like most driving bays, the tee-off mat is by most
standards, acceptable. A caution though, after a bout of rain, the mat
can be soaked with rain water, which may also result in a splashing
good time for the golfer (pardon the pun).

I enjoy visiting the range at night, particularly for the view that
one can savour as he/she attempts to execute a perfect swing of the
club at the ball at one of the many tee-off bays. Although there is
nothing really ‘natural’ about the view of the driving range, all
tee-off bays command a 180 degree view of the urban-forested Bishan HDB
estate, which in itself, is still quite a sight to behold.

I do not have many grouses about the golfing range except for one
issue though, the golf balls. Invariably, you can easily locate in a
basket of 50 balls, at least half of the load with worn out dimples.
Any ardent golfer can vouch for a fact that golf balls depend very much
on the dimples for its trajectory and distance.

For those who may want to alternate between golf and other
activities, there is a Billiards parlour for one to indulge in a round
or two. When it comes to beer, which is often synonymous with golf, the
café, together with the beer garden, are fairly cool watering holes to
mingle with friends and strangers while comparing the day’s effort on
the range.

More of a place for heart landers and newbies. Ambience is comparatively less impressive compared to Marina Bay Golf range. But guess it is a good place to start of for newbies.
